These are the pictures taken during a roof and skylight repair on a house in Syosset, Nassau County, New York. We showed up first thing in the morning to evaluate the roof and determine a plan of attack. The estimator already made a supply list and a roof condition outline for the crew a week or more ago.RoofPro-van The crew sets up tarps on the ground to prevent a bigger than needed mess. The roof and especially the sky light area seem to be having a water intrusion problem. These systems are great for natural light to enter your home and when the window can be opened, the excess heat in the summer months has an escape rout to leave the living quarters of your home.

Skylights are a great addition to your home, but eventually need some upkeep and a rebuild of the flashing and base areas.

The roof was in bad shape and needed to be torn completely off and some base wood needed to be replaced. Sheets of plywood are the best answer to replace the rotted old wood base. We cut and shaped the plywood to fit in the areas that needed to be replaced. New tar paper was applied as well as a moisture barrier plastic to prevent any more wood rot in the future this was attached to the bare wood of the roof itself.2

Making sure the Syosset roof is arched at the correct angle and to prevent any pooling after rain or snow falls is very important.

The next thing was to nail down the tar paper and then the shingles that were picked out by the customer for their house. Roof Pro always consults with the home owners through a estimator from Roof Pro days before the actual work is started and won’t start the job until the full load of supplies are ready to be installed for the planned day or days needed to finish the job.

It’s important to make sure all gaps are closed and tightly water proofed with the proper caulking and sealants. This house has a large skylight in the middle of the center roof, we had to set up the area with new flashing and reseal the area properly. There is a certain way to do the job correctly and we do it as per GACFs rules and recommendations on roof repairs and skylight installations.

Sky lights need special attention and a complete knowledge of how water can intrude into the base and flashing if not done correctly.

Making sure your new roof done by Roof Pro is going to hold up for many years to come is our goal. Our roofs are guaranteed by GAF roofing supplier and by our own Roof Pro contract and warranty. We finished the roof with a great quality shingle and at the the end cleaned up the sight and had a Forman come back the next day when it was daytime to look over the job and give it a Roof Pro approval stamp. If there was a need extra attention on the roof a return visit from a Roof Pro crew would have to be scheduled to address the and make the correction.
