These are the pictures taken during a roof repair on a house in Dix Hills, Suffolk County, New York. As you can see the Roof Pro team has covered the ground with tarps to prevent nails, wood scrap and old roofing material from scattering around the ground and littering the yard. It is done to ease clean up and to keep small debris from hurting or cutting a home owner or his guests after Roof Pro is long gone from the work site.
The roof was in bad shape and needed to be torn completely off and some base wood needed to be replaced. Sheets of plywood are the best answer to replace the rotted old wood base. We cut and shaped the plywood to fit in the areas that needed to be replaced. New tar paper and insulation was applied as well as a moisture barrier plastic to prevent any more wood rot in the future was attached to the bare wood.
The next thing was to nail down the tar paper and then the shingles that were picked out by the customer for his house. Roof Pro always consults with the home owners through a estimator from Roof Pro days before the actual work is started and won’t start the job until the full load of supplies are ready to be installed for the planned day or days needed to finish the job.
Roof Pro personnel will fix some areas that need to fit tight and cut to the size to close all possible heat escape cracks and openings that may cause water intrusion. It’s important to make sure all gaps are closed and water proofed with the proper caulking and sealants. This house had a large skylight in the middle of the center roof, we had to set up the area with new flashing and reseal the area properly. There is a certain way to do the job correctly and we do it as per GACFs rules and recommendations.
Roof Pro always installs good to great quality roofing shingles on a home. The cheap stuff is for the “fly by night” contractors, not us. Our roofs are guaranteed by GAF roofing supplier and by our own Roof Pro contract and warranty. We finished the roof with a great quality shingle and at the the end cleaned up the sight and had a Forman come back the next day when it was daytime to look over the job and give it a Roof Pro approval stamp. If he found an issue, a return visit from a Roof Pro crew would have to be scheduled to address the and make the correction.
